Ammanford CC edged a tense derby against Carmarthen Wanderers CC, defending 265 for 8 to win by seven runs in one of the closest finishes of the Premier Division One season so far.

Carmarthen’s reply never fell far behind the required rate, and with wickets in hand deep into the innings the chase looked to be heading their way before Ammanford’s bowlers found the extra discipline needed in the closing stages.

It was a result that will do plenty for confidence in the Ammanford dressing room, and a reminder to Carmarthen that fine margins can decide the biggest fixtures on the calendar.
